Press Releases
Learn about new books for kids and developments in the world of children’s publishing on this page.
As this website continues to grow, I’m sure there will occasionally be authors, illustrators, and others seeking publicity for their work.
Since that’s already starting to happen, I’ve decided to include press releases under a new section I’m adding to Kids-and-Books: What’s New?
This section will include the latest news in the world of publishing (focused on the best books and magazines for kids), book reviews (written by both children and adults), writing contests for kids, and press releases.
Submission Guidelines
You may submit your press releases to Kids-and-Books through our Contact Us page. Be sure to include your name and contact information, and the date you wish the release to be published.
Not sure about the proper format for a press release, or what to include? Take a look at this sample at WebWire.com.

For now, I’ll be listing press releases on this page. But eventually, they’ll be given a page of their own.
PRESS RELEASE
Children's Author Signs 11 Contracts
Rockford, IL (May 26, 2010) – Children’s adventure and mystery author, Max Elliot Anderson, has signed contracts for 11 books to be published by two publishers.
Comfort Publishing, in Concord, North Carolina, will republish his first seven titles after the original publisher could not withstand the economic pressures that have hurt so many small businesses.
The titles to be republished by Comfort Publishing include Newspaper Caper, Terror at Wolf Lake, North Woods Poachers, Mountain Cabin Mystery, Big Rig Rustlers, Secret of Abbott’s Cave, and Legend of the White Wolf. A new book, Barney and the Runaway, will also be published.
Comfort Publishing has also contracted a first right of refusal option on another 16 titles and wants to pursue an extensive series with him. This could become a 24-book deal. “These books are already written,” Anderson said, “although I'm doing a revision on each one to increase the word count.”
“Over a period of 3½ years,” Mr. Anderson added, “I wrote 35 manuscripts. Now I’m glad I did that.” Each book has different characters, locations, and plots.
Anderson is also developing the Sam Cooper Adventure Series with Port Yonder Press in Shellsburg, Iowa. “It’s a new step for me,” Anderson said. “Writing a traditional series, in the same locations and with the same characters, requires a different set of writing skills.”
Book # 1 in the Sam Cooper Adventure Series is Lost Island Smugglers, to be published in August 2010. This book will be followed by the end of the year with Captain Jack’s Treasure and River Rampage. The plan calls for more titles to be written for this series in the future.
Further details can be found on Anderson’s blog, Books for Boys. This blog consistently ranks # 1 on Google, when searching for information about books for boys.
“I began writing in 2001 because I grew up hating to read,” Anderson said. “Now, with a recent study released by the Center on Education Policy, spotlighting the difficulties boys have with reading, my books seem to be coming out at just the right time.”
Max Elliot Anderson began writing his action-adventures and mysteries especially for boys 8 – 13. However, they’re also enjoyed by girls. Even adults find his books hard to put down.
Kids report, “Reading one of your books is like being in an exciting movie.”
